Hilton Head Traffic Cams

Of all the things our tax dollars have been spent on recently, we think Beaufort County’s Traffic Cameras are pretty cool. There’s no better way to know what the traffic on those Hilton Head bridges will be like before you get there. The cameras run along Highway 278 from I-95 all the way to Hilton Head Island and up SC 170 to Beaufort. The images are live snapshots that update every five seconds. The link to the camera site used to be on the Beaufort County homepage, but for some reason it's now hidden inside the site. No matter. We’ve found it for you :-)

New Restaurant

In case you haven’t heard, Hilton Head is the newest location of a Bonefish Grill Restaurant. This growing casual seafood chain hails from Florida and is brought to you by the same folks who made Outback Steakhouses such a staple in this country (we've got one of those too, in case you're wondering. Here's a map). We can say that if the meals we’ve had so far are any indication, it won’t be long before there’s a Bonefish in your town.

Till then, we’ll gladly share ours with you :-) The Hilton Head Island location is just down the street from our office on William Hilton Parkway (Business 278), located in the Fresh Market Shops (formerly Shops on the Parkway). Click here for a map. Don’t wait till the summer, though. Come down now while we still have the island to ourselves and avoid the lines. See you there!

Hilton Head Holiday Lights

If you get a chance, take a drive down Dove Street in North Forest Beach. As you can see in this picture from the Island Packet, the residents go 'all-out' down there. If you do go, they ask that you make a donation to "Deep Well" a local charity.

Seasons Greetings!!

Seasons Greetings from Hilton Head. There is no where better to be during the Holidays than on Hilton Head. The island is decorated in festive style, the weather is cool and there are Holiday events almost every night until Christmas. Last night we had great Holiday entertainment from Tim Malchek, a local performer doing all the traditional as well as new Christmas songs. So if you are in close proximity to the island, pack up the car and come spend some of the Holidays with us.

Thanksgiving

This is a wonderful time on the Island. There is coolness in the air and Thanksgiving Day holds many activities. One island tradition is playing golf on Thanksgiving morning and then coming home to enjoy time with family and friends for Thanksgiving dinner. Another Island tradition is the Turkey Trot. This is a 15-year old tradition on Hilton Head Island. Held on Thanksgiving morning, racers come from all over to compete. The race begins at The Boat House on Squire Pope Road and runs through Hilton Head Plantation. Also join the after-party following the race at the Boathouse II Restaurant. This is a great time on the Island, come join us.

The Weather is Spectacular!

If you can visit on the spur of the moment, now is the time to come. The weather is perfect for Golf, Tennis, Bike riding or just exploring the island. You can smell fall in the air with warm days and cool nights, the leaves of the Oak Trees are turning and the smell of firewood burning. Sample the sites and sounds of the Island in the fall as you bike around the island and stroll on the beach. This is also the best time for sampling different restaurants as there are no waits and you can enjoy the cuisine at a leisurely pace. Come, enjoy!

Best Time of Year

This is the most beautiful time of the year on Hilton Head Island. The days are warm with low humidity and nights are cool. Traffic is at a minimum and it makes exploring the island more enjoyable. It’s also great for enjoying some of the islands best restaurants that offer outside seating such as Santa Fe Café, Charlie’s Crab and the Boathouse. My favorite of all of these is Santa Fe Café. If you like Southwestern cuisine then you will love this restaurant. Be sure to ask for seating on the roof top and try the Painted Desert Soup!
