Hilton Head Island Beaches

Hilton Head Island's 12 miles of beaches are great! Head to the beach for sunning, walking, people watching, fishing and plenty of relaxing. At low tide, the broad beaches are also great for bike riding.

All beaches in South Carolina are public. So, anyone can walk as far along a beach in any direction as desired. However, most land bordering Hilton Head Island beaches is private property... so access is limited to property owners and guests staying on those properties.

There are 4 public beach areas on Hilton Head Island with parking areas provided. Additionally, there are numerous other access pathways to beaches in public areas and in the various "plantations" on the island.

The beach at Coligny Circle on Hilton Head is the most used and has plenty of public parking across the street. At the north end of the island, Folly Field Beach is popular. Umbrellas, chairs and water-oriented sports equipment are available at many beaches during the swimming season.
